Soccer and how I suck at it.

2 min read

SOCCER
The one sport I am okay at and at the same time the one sport that I SUCK at.

“I used to be so focused on winning, I had a really hard time enjoying soccer. If I missed a shot, I would spend a lot of time thinking about how I’d disappointed my teammates. Then I learned how moments of struggle make you stronger.”- Christen Press

I love soccer. I love watching and playing soccer. It is an amazing game. Some people say its boring, but I say its really interesting. What’s better than seeing people kick a ball around for 90 minutes. Yes, I know I make it sound boring but it is actually a really lively game. It’s truly an enjoyable game. Let me give you a little soccer history. Soccer traces back to more than 2,000 years ago. Those people really knew what they were doing. Soccer is an extraordinary sport. Now let’s get to the part where I explain why I am bad, and at the same time good at soccer.

I started playing soccer when I was five. I loved it and as I played it more, my skills grew. I was great at games and I was great at practice. Every team wanted me…

Oh stop it Eshan,
Tell us the truth

The truth is that I started playing when I was 11 and I was simply horrible. I couldn’t score a single goal even if my life depended on it. I was the definition of a bad soccer player. I thought I was good when truly I was really bad. No one wanted me on their team, but I didn’t give up. I kept on trying and I slowly grew as a soccer player. Really really slowly. Apparently, it was too slow because I quit soccer. Yes, I know you are probably sitting there calling me a quitter and saying that I shouldn’t have given up, but to my 11-year-old self, it felt like soccer was impossible. Well now I am 14 and I am not as bad as I was when I was 11 but still, I’m not that good. I put in a lot of practice. But here’s the thing, I want to learn how to play “good” soccer. I have a deep appreciation for the sport and it’s very fun. That is why I am going to start PRACTICING MORE . The point which I am doing a horrible job at getting across to you is that you shouldn’t give up on things that you want to do just because they may seem impossible. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Who knows maybe I may go to the world cup.
let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
