“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” – Cayla Mills
We all have heard about cancer and know how deadly this disease is, even after so much of advancement in science and technology there is still no definite cure for it. There are many doctors, research scientists, and organizations working tirelessly to beat this disease. Having this disease and the long treatment period that followed it made me appreciate the medical field and all the hard work that the doctors and surgeons do. I am very interested in the field of medicine, and I hope to have a career in it. I want to work as a pediatric oncologist (a doctor who helps treat kids with cancer). I have a desire to give back to my community as they helped me and my family in our difficult time. I want to help as many kids as I can who are struggling with the same things which I once went through.
It was a tough battle. Cancer hurts a lot, but the cliche statement that “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” applies here. It is very true. I might have had cancer, but cancer never had me. I never gave up and I kept on fighting. That’s what everyone should do. It doesn’t matter if you think the odds aren’t in your favor. That’s what I thought every day but that didn’t mean that I gave up hope. I kept on fighting and you need to do the same. Life isn’t an easy stroll through the woods, it’s not supposed to be.
“Life is designed to knock you down. It will knock you down time and time again, but it doesn’t matter how many times you fall – it matters how many times you get back up”-Lily Singh.
All that matters is that you get back up, so don’t ever give up. Don’t stop for anything.
